Nap Nanny Chill

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has filed a lawsuit against the maker of the Nap Nanny Chill and Generation Two recliners for their failure to provide adequate warnings and instructions for the products. The lawsuit seeks to require the manufacturer to provide a full refund to consumers, and to warn the public about the dangerous defects. The Nap Nanny Chill has been linked to at least five deaths of infants.

Nap Nanny Generation One

The CPSC filed a Nap Nanny lawsuit after the product was linked to 92 injuries and five deaths – largely as a result of infants falling from the recliner or suffocating while in the product. The CPSC issued a recall of the Nap Nanny Generation One in July 2010 and a new version with improved instructions and warning labels in January 2012. The company said that it received additional reports of injuries and deaths from the Nap Nanny.

Nap Nanny Generation Two

The Nap Nanny has been the subject of a lawsuit by parents who were injured while using the product. The manufacturer, Baby Matters, has since shut down the company. The plaintiff, however, says the company is cooperating with regulators. In the lawsuit, the company claims that the product failed to restrain the child properly. The product is recalled for a second time. Earlier in 2011, Baby Matters agreed to offer an $80 coupon to owners of the Generation One and Generation Two models. The company has also issued revised instructions for the Nap Nanny.

The Nap Nanny Chill and the Nap Nanny are both the subject of a lawsuit filed by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC cited design and marketing defects in the baby recliner that put infants at risk for injury or death. According to the CPSC, the Nap Nanny Chill was put on the market after the 2010 recall. However, more babies reportedly died after minor changes were made to the product.

Infant strangulation deaths

Two reports of fatalities associated with “Nap Nanny” recliners are disturbing. The first report involves a six-month-old baby, who was found face down between a crib bumper and Nap Nanny. The recliner harness failed to restrain the baby, and he died. The second report involves a four-month-old baby, who died of suffocation while in the Nap Nanny harness. In all, 22 reports of infant strangulations have been made.

Low sidewalls

While the Nap Nanny is known for its low sidewalls, the DayDreamer is a baby recliner with nine-inch-high walls that are three times higher than the Nap Nanny. Both models are easy to adjust with buckles secured to solid cores. The instructions are not removable. You can use the Nap Nanny coupon code to save $80 off the new model.
